Force of Nature (2018)

Seeking radical ways of engaging with nature through art, leading Australian performance and visual artists were invited to respond to the theme ‘force of nature’, in an exhibition at Yarra Ranges Regional Museum. Artists’ works related to the potent influence of local environments on our lives and art practices, referred to global environmental forces and climates, and responded to a situation of ‘post-nature’.

Force of Nature spilled out from the exhibition at the museum to satellite programming at local sites.

Encroach

A coastal site evokes a visceral response to the effects of climate change as the sea encroaches upon the land. The dancer explores the elemental forces causing the shoreline to recede. She is buffeted, swept and eroded.
